Canon PowerShot SD780 IS

It began with clothes, went on to watches, was taken over by mobile phones and now by the cameras – style statement seems to keep changing its meaning to suit the age. One of the first camera manufacturers to market the point and shoot compact camera as a style statement is Canon, when it came up with its IXUS range and other slim compact cameras and promised each section and sub section of the society something that they will easily accept. Adding another feather to its already ‘brightly coloured’ cap (puns intended!), Canon comes up with the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS. This 12.1 mp camera that is equipped with a zoom capacity of 3x, provides High Definition video option, along with many other features.

Design and Functioning

Looks is what most Canon point and shoot cameras score high on; and they have only gone from good to better each time. The Canon PowerShot SD780 IS boasts of the same sleek looks, soft edges and easy ergonomics that Canon’s IXUS range became a household name because of. It comes in four sophisticated colours of Devil’s Red, Champagne Gold, Metallic Silver and Midnight Black. Like any other Canon camera that comes under the IS range, this compact camera too comes with Optical Image Stabilization function, for making pictures immune to shake or blur caused by sudden movements. Improved Motion Detection aids blur-free capture of moving subjects. i-Contrast brightens the dark areas of a photo without blowing out correctly-exposed areas. Face Detection Technology can register multiple faces in a frame and adjusts settings for better results; with the Digital IXUS 100 IS, this includes new Blink Detection, which helps avoid the disappointment of a mistimed portrait shot. FaceSelf-Timer simplifies group shots or self portraits by waiting until the user enters the frame before shooting. Auto Red-Eye Correction removes the unwanted red-eye effect caused by flash photography, either during or after shooting. The Canon PowerShot SD780 IS also comes with the ability to shoot pin-sharp, ultra-detailed video clips in High Definition – which can be played back on any HDTV via an HDMI connection. This camera is compatible with a wide variety of storage cards like SD, SDHC, MMC, MMCplus, HC MMCplus.
