Pakistan's star all-rounder Shahid Afridi says he is proud that the shirt he wore in the World Twenty20 final against Sri Lanka last month will be preserved in the world-famed cricket museum at Lord's.

"It is a very proud moment for me," said Afridi, who played a pivotal role in Pakistan's title-winning triumph in the World Twenty20 championship in England. He won the man of the match in the semi-final against South Africa and the final against Sri Lanka .He narrowly missed the award for the man of the tournament that went to Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan.

The Lord's museum has decided to preserve Afridi's shirt, which makes him the first Pakistani cricketer to receive such an honour.

The museum has some of the rarest articles used by some famous cricketers of the world. A sparrow which was killed by a stroke from the bat from Jahangir Khan, father of former Pakistan captain Majid Khan, has also been preserved in the museum.

The Lord's cricket museum, commonly known as Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Museum, is the world's oldest sporting museum. The museum contains a wide range of exhibits and is best-known for being the home of The Ashes.
