Fast bowler Stuart Clark insists he can intimidate England just the way Andrew Flintoff has Australia.

Clark went on to say that he believes he is closer to a Test recall after being Australia's best bowler during the second day of a three-day tour match against Northampton on Sunday.

While Peter Siddle finished with the most wickets, Clark bowled with great control and consistent movement to take 2-45 from 14 overs.

"I get the ball to bounce a little bit more, being a little bit taller," Clark said.

"That's probably my biggest weapon. If you can get the ball to bounce, as we saw with Freddie at Lord's, you can be a handful."

Clark, 33, the hero of the 2006-07 Ashes in Australia with 26 wickets at an average of just 17 apiece, admitted he was disappointed and surprised to be left out of the first two Tests.

Clark has not played Test cricket since November because of an elbow operation. The selectors included young pacemen who won Australia the series in South Africa - Mitchell Johnson, Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus.

However, Johnson has had a difficult tour and struggled again on Sunday. His Test place must now be on the line after his seven-over spell conceded 42 runs - a run a ball.

"I wasn't given any guarantee I was going to play," Clark said of a possible Test return.

"The selectors had an idea and they went with that idea."

"I thought I was a real chance (to play the second Test at Lord's) but given the boys played really well in Cardiff, and all the bowlers did really well, it was always going to be hard to change that team."
