Lenovo has unveiled its first tablet computer LePad that serves as both laptop and touch-screen tablet on Tuesday. The light-weight gadget made its quiet arrival at the opening of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The LePad equipped with Windows OS can be used as laptop while working with content creation and edition. Besides, the device turns into a tablet computer while playing games, social networking or surfing the Internet. The device is capable to switch to Android operating system when in tablet mode and to Windows OS when in laptop mode.

“It is one device to balance life and work,” Lenovo product manager Leo Li was quoted as saying.

“A keyboard is more important and Windows software more powerful for a lot of things you need to work, especially productivity and creating content. At the same time, people want to enjoy music, see videos, go to websites, read e-books, and play games in their personal lives,” he added.

The LePad will be available in China by the end of March 2011 and would come priced at 8,888 Chinese Yuan while the tablet alone will be sold for 3,499 Chinese Yuan.
