Panasonic has announced its smallest and lightest interchangeable lens system camera, the Lumix DMC-GF2 that is integrated with some new inputs.

The GF2 has a 12.1MP camera with Live MOS sensor compatible with the company's 3D interchangeable lens and an enclosure that is 7% lighter than the GF1. The other features include 3-inch touchpanel on the rear, contrast AF system, new Touch Q user interface, internal dust reduction system and video record support at 1920 x 1080/60i or 1280 x 720/60p in AVCHD. The device also offers Motion JPEG recording at lower resolutions.

The camera is 19% smaller than the earlier model and is available in three colour options such as silver, red and black. Apart from that, two bundle kits are there for the camera enthusiasts like a 14mm F2.5 pancake kit and a 14-42mm zoom lens kit. Though, the lack of main mode dial on the top-plate can frustrate a customer.

The Lumix GF2 is available in late December or January next year.

Panasonic is known to release popular models like Lumix GF1, Lumix GH2 having 16MP camera, LX5 and many more. Hopefully, this time, the GF2 with full HD mode will attract the customers too.
