Bipasha Requests Stars To Do Issue-Based Films For Free
Bipasha Basu is known as a glamorous celebrity, but she has a strong insight over the fact that films based on social issues do not make much profit at the box office. She says that the stars should do such movies without any charge, as the profits do not exceed the total budget itself.
Bipasha further adds, “Don`t charge any money for working in such (issue-based) films. It`s the only way to make issue-based films commercially viable.”
Bips was just seen in terrorism based issue film ‘Lamha’, but in spite being a costly film, the box office returns were negligible. She says that’s the reason why the stars should do the films with commitment and not without any charge.
She adds, “After `Lamhaa` I am tempted to tell a committed filmmaker like Rahul Dholakia to make out-and-out commercial films. Or if you make a film on a social issue then make sure it doesn`t go over-budget.”
"It`s shameful that `Lamhaa` was so costly. If it was made for Rs.4 crore, it would have been a hit. When a mainstream actor does a film on a social cause, it should be done free of cost as a sign of commitment to society.”
Now the actress has signed another movie based on the serious subject matter of ‘Honor Killings’ called ‘Aakrosh’ opposite to Ajay Devgan. She plays the role of a school teacher who teaches in a village and Bips will be seen in a totally de-glam image.
One would wonder, that whether Bips has signed ‘Aakrosh’ for free or not?!
