Mani Ratnam's upcoming flick ‘Raavan’ will have a limited release in 24 theatres only in one of Karnataka’s distribution areas as reported by the film chamber.

President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), Vasant Kumar Patil said, "A decision has been taken to follow the existing policy of allowing non-Kannada films in a stipulated number of theatres."

This decision would imply to the southern part of Karnataka in the distribution area of old Mysore and this decision will not be imposed on the other distribution areas.

Mani Ratnam's ‘Raavan’ is supposed to get released on June 18 and it would be released in two languages- Hindi and Tamil by Big Cinemas.

Big Cinemas wanted that the KFCC should allow ‘Raavan’ to be released in more than 48 theatres as the movie is getting released in two versions with different star cast and a huge cost is involved in making these movies.

Big Cinemas requested KFCC writing, “Raavan is a hugely mounted film and we would like to seek some relief from the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to liberalise its policy of restricting the release in a fixed number of theatres in Karnataka."
