Sony A33

The world of imaging needs its aficionados to be on their toes all the while. It began with the introduction of the four thirds and micro four thirds cameras, and now Sony introduces an SLT, a single lens translucent camera that reflects very little light that enters the camera. Such a technology would not only result in a higher percentage of light hitting the image sensor, thereby decreasing the amount of light information wasted, it would also allow for continuous phase detection autofocus even during exposure. Thus, there is no doubt that Sony á33, which is an SLT, would instantly strike a chord with lovers of photography. This is a 14.2mp interchangeable lens camera.

Design and Functioning

One can never be sure if this lightweight, yet solid-feeling and sturdy camera is made out of plastic or metal alloy, though the manufacturers claim it is the former. This SLT-A33 is the world’s first DSLR with Translucent Mirror Technology that directs light to both the image sensor and the Phase Detection AF sensor simultaneously. With the 3D Sweep Panorama mode, the user can capture vast scenic vistas and 16:9 shots in spectacular 3D. The Sony SLT-A33 enables you to shoot movies with the added stability one gets holding the camera up to the face and using the eye-level finder for framing, which other HD cameras do not facilitate. Sony’s Graphic Display also helps to Clarifies the relationship between aperture and shutter speed, as well as the effect each has on photographic results. The camera can automatically detect up to eight individual faces and adjust focus, exposure, white balance and flash to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends. Sony’s TruBlack LCD screen includes a special resin layer to suppress internal reflections, increasing contrast compared to conventional LCDs. Sunny Weather mode boosts visibility even further in bright sunlight. Anti-Dust Technology, another feature incorporated in the á33, helps keep the CMOS sensor clean, resulting in consistently clear pictures. First a static-free coating on the sensor's low-pass filter helps repel dust. Then vibration automatically dislodges dust from the sensor. This camera is compatible with MemoryStick Duo/PRO Duo as well as SD/SDHC cards and provides for separate slots for both.
