Microsoft is planning to launch its Windows Phone 7 for the Indian market in this year, the company said on Wednesday. The Windows Phone 7, which was launched in October 2010 across the US and European countries, is the successor to its Windows Mobile platform.
 
Besides, the company is also planning to introduce new applications for Bing. A senior executive of Microsoft said the company has altered the applications of Bing to suit Indian users.
 
“Windows Phone 7 will be launched in a few months but the date has not yet been decided,” Managing Director of Microsoft India Development Centre (MSIDC), Amit Chatterjee, was quoted as saying.
 
Windows Phone 7 is a consumer smartphone has a new version Internet Explorer Mobile and supports Microsoft Office programs and documents- Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile, SharePoint Workspace Mobile and OneNote Mobile.
 
The phone was launched at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona and was released for sale in September 2010. Despite its criticisms as business phone, the company boasts that it has satisfied millions of customers.
