LG, the world’s third largest mobile handset manufacturer, will launch its mobile phone online application store on Tuesday. The initial focus of the company is the Asian markets and then to make a global impact by the year end. The success of Apple’s App store has been an inspiration for other mobile firms and phone makers to create their own virtual stores that will help the end users for easy download of content and software.
 
LG and Samsung, both of which are famous for the innovations in software and well-priced handsets, are still behind in the smart phone category. LG on Monday revealed that the LG Application store will comprise of 1400 applications which will include 100 free programs and will be available in 15 different languages.
 
The Asia-Pacific Countries of Malaysia and Singapore will enjoy the first service with South America and Europe to get this offer by the year end. The company aspires to provide more than 2,000 applications by end of 2009.
