Arbaaz Khan has been an actor till now, although there is nothing great to remember about his acting skills, nor is he in a good demand in the industry but, pertaining to all these factors, he started suddenly as a producer in the movie, ‘Dabangg’.

Arbaaz, 43 years old adds, "I wanted to do something for myself, something out of the box. I knew I had to maximize it (the opportunity) for myself more than my brother Salman. It is my first step into production; so it became a conscious decision to follow the right path.”

He further adds, “Turning producer was not on the cards till director Abhinav Kashyap approached me. However, I took the movie in an attempt to prove it to myself and earn credibility for myself."

Arbaaz started his career back in the year 1996 (Darar) and since then he has worked in ‘Garv’, ‘Hello Brother’, ‘Dus Kahaniyan’, Shootout At Lokhandwala’ and ‘Fashion’. But he has failed to carve out a niche for himself from any of his movies, so the choice of turning producer became obvious for him.

His first production venture is ‘Dabangg’ and the story is set in a small town of Uttar Pradesh, Arbaaz also acts in the movie as Salman Khan’s step brother. He says that in future he is interested in making movies for mass appeal and not for a niche segment.

Arbaaz says, “I would predominantly like to make films that have huge mass appeal. I don't necessarily want to make niche films. I like films that work on a larger scale and they come in every genre.”

Like Salman Khan, he also holds a very good opinion about debutante actress Sonakshi Sinha and adds, “She is very professional, mature and a good dancer. She is the future, I must say this. There lays a lot of talent to be explored in her.”

‘Dabangg’ is due for an Eid release in the month of September. Presently, he is working on the promotional campaign strategy of the movie and they are planning to cover the small north Indian towns for it.
