Vodafone has launched the highly anticipated Android 2.2 update called Froyo for HTC Desire users on its network. This is said to be a smart step that is likely to be noticed by the rival carriers in due course.

Vodafone has also made certain changes in its smartphones. Accordingly, the set will be without an application that had earlier forced users into installing to the set. The application will automatically be removed when the Android updated is installed.

According to Google, the Froyo operating system is assured to provide enhanced speed and better performance to the high-end phones.

The Froyo operating system is the next version of Google’s mobile-phone operating system and carries many advanced features.

Android 2.2 will be the first mobile operating system that will have native flash support.  More to it, with Android 2.2, the Chrome web browser will have full Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support to allow you to view flash-based websites, play flash games and do many more things.

Vodafone said that the Android update would be available to all its HTC Desire users in the next few days.
