The U.S. Cellular will carry the Android 2.2 powered LG Optimus U smartphone. With heightening competition, mobile carriers are vying to offer best deal.
 
“The LG Optimus U is a good fit for first-time smartphone customers who are looking to explore a wide range of games, multimedia entertainment and time-saving Android applications,” U.S. Cellular Vice President for marketing and sales, Edward Perez was quoted as saying.
 
 
The customers, who are in for a Belief Plan, will have to sign another contract with the US Cellular after completing the first two-year contract.
 
“Customers with one of our Belief Plans who are eligible for a phone upgrade can pick up an LG Optimus U at our promotional price without signing a new contract,” he added.
 
The U.S Cellular has come out with plans including Primary Plus Plan and Premium Plus Family Plan. Under the Primary Plus Plan, the customers would get 5GB of data, unlimited messaging-text, video and picture- at $69.99 per month. The Premium Plus Family Plan offers 5GB of data per line, GPS navigation, unlimited messaging for two numbers at $179.99.
 
The QWERTY touch-screen smartphone, LG Optimus, comes with a 3.2 inches wide display and is enabled with Swype technology. The phone is expected arrive on December 13, according to sources.
