Supermodel-turned-TV presenter Tyra Banks is urging fans to donate to Wyclef Jean's Yele organisation to aid the Haitian earthquake relief effort.
 
The former runway beauty has joined celebrities like Jessica Alba, rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in calling for Twitter.com followers to lend their support to those left homeless in the disaster, which rocked the poverty-stricken nation on Tuesday (12Jan10).
 
The former Fugees star issued a desperate plea for donations on Tuesday (12Jan10), asking fans to text in to his charity, with each message worth $5.
 
Banks has done her bit to aid the cause and she wants others to follow her lead.
 
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "My thoughts are w/ (with) all those suffering in Haiti during this major catastrophe. I donated, u (sic) should too: text 'YELE' to 501501 to donate $5."
 
Reports as many as 500,000 people are feared dead in the worst quake to hit Haiti in 200 years. The tremors measured 7.3 on the Richter scale.
