Moviemaker Robert Rodriguez has taken aim at Arizona's controversial new immigration law in a new trailer for his upcoming action film ‘Machete’.

The director is appalled by lawmakers' new no-tolerance policy for illegal immigrants and asked Latino tough guy Danny Trejo, the star of his film, to shoot a special online trailer.

Trejo introduces the two minute clip, calling it ‘a special Cinco de Mayo message to Arizona’.

In the trailer, Trejo seeks revenge on a state senator for setting him up under the new laws, which state all citizens face arrest if they're not carrying identification papers when stopped by police.

The promo also features co-stars Robert De Niro and Lindsay Lohan.

A spokesman for the movie insists the trailer was a one-off Internet promotion and will not be released to cinemas.

The film is set for release in September 2010.
