Hollywood actor Richard Gere who recently turned 61 has injured himself while filming a fight scene in his upcoming flick, ‘The Double’. The actor insisted to perform the action sequence by himself and ultimately dislocated his shoulder, putting the movie schedule on hold for six weeks.

The action scene was between Gere and his 19 years junior British actor Tamer Hassan.

However, Hassan has all the praises for the ‘The Jackal’ actor’ and insisted that Gere should get top points for his courage.

"We had been rehearsing for four weeks every night and Richard was great, but he had a problem with his shoulder," said Hassan.

"I said, `Look, Richard, just slip in where you can. ` But, oh, no, not Richard, he went: `I want to do it. ` He did it and dislocated his shoulder."

Hassan hogged headlines earlier this year after he had a real fight with his hard-man actor Vinnie Jones. He further informed that Gere is still focussed to do the stunt by himself once he returns to the sets of the film.

"So the production has closed down for six weeks because of Richard`s shoulder and I just got told on Monday that he is going to come back and do it himself again. So fair play to him, and he looks as beautiful as he always did."
