A city court on Tuesday finally granted permission to Rahul to leave the country with wife Dimpy so that the two could go on a honeymoon. Special judge J.P.S. Malik granted him permission and released his passport for now. Rahul, however, has been asked to pay a surety bond of Rs.500,000. He has also been instructed to register his marriage within two months.

Rahul's passport had been in the court's custody ever since his trial in a drug abuse case in 2006. Rahul and his father Pramod Mahajan's secretary Vivek Moitra were admitted to Apollo Hospital on 2nd June, 2006, after they consumed contraband drugs laced with alcohol at Pramod Mahajan's then official residence. Moitra, however, succumbed to his status and died in hospital.

Rahul’s passport was seized after the incident and he was not permitted to leave the country without seeking the court’s permission. He was let off drug trafficking charges, which entail a harsher punishment, but was booked for consumption of banned drugs.

Rahul who got married recently to Dimpy Ganguly on a reality TV show ‘Rahul Ka Swayamwar’ wanted to take his wife for a honeymoon to Maldives and Ireland and seemed quite pleased with the court’s decision.
