After days of intense heat and humidity, people in Delhi had a pleasant surprise as they woke up to pre-monsoon rains on Tuesday morning.

The met department has said that these are just pre-monsoon showers and more rain can be expected through the day.

The met department at Safdarjung said that although there has been an increase in humidity level, the temperature has dipped slightly because of rain. Delhi received 6.8 mm of rain from Monday evening until early Tuesday.

While the humidity level shot up to 66%, the minimum temperature dipped to four degrees below the average at 25 degrees Celsius. The met department predicted the maximum would hover around 35 degrees Celsius.

Rains would be a welcome respite from water crisis and power outages the city has been facing recently.
