The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir had submitted his resignation to the Kashmir governor due to the accusations related to 2006 sex scandal.
 
Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
 
Abdullah submitted his resignation to the governor, who asked him to remain in office till a successor, is sworn in. Abdullah became the chief minister of the National Conference-Congress coalition government in January 2009.
