This noted actor of ‘Bandit Queen’ Nirmal Pandey died due to severe heart attack and was reported dead while on his way to the Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai at 2:30 PM on Feb 18. The 48 year old film and TV actor Pandey was best recognized for his contribution in ‘Bandit Queen’ and ‘Train to Pakistan’.
 
Pandey has succumbed at a young age and is survived by his wife Archana and two kids. He was a graduate from the National School of Drama and acclaimed to fame from ‘Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin’, ‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’, ‘One 2 ka 4’ and ‘Shikari ‘. He was a versatile and quality actor who earned much popularity for his negative characters. The last release of the demised actor was the Telugu film ‘Kedi’.

He is remembered as a gentle guy, director Sudhir Mishra stated, "Nirmal was a gentle guy, and very comfortable with his softer side. That's how I remember him. I can't comment profoundly because I was out of touch with Nirmal for the past seven-eight years. I'm very sorry and guilt-ridden.” Director Mishra made his last film with Pandey is ‘Raat Ki Subah Nahi’. I am completely taken aback. “

The talented actor Pandey was a part of Tara, a London based theater group. The latest venture of where Pandey played as a Pakistani character in ‘Lahore’is directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.

A shocked and overwhelmed Chauhan stated, "I just got to know from Sushant Singh that he is no more and I'm rushing to the hospital... I had a word with him two days ago and he was supposed to come tomorrow (Friday) to shoot the making of 'Lahore' alongside Sushant, Saurabh Shukla and Mukesh Rishi.”

Pandey’s co-workers remember him as not only a great actor but as also a great human being. Irrfan, a senior of Pandey's at NSD mourns over his sudden death,stating, "I remember him as a handsome guy. He was not just a good actor but also an excellent singer. I had not been in touch with him for some time, but the news is saddening.”
 
‘Bandit Queen’ director Shekahr Kapur mentions, “A terrific actor and human being who had yet to achieve his full potential,"on his Twitter site on Thursday.
 
The veteran actor Jackie Shroff who worked with him in ‘One Two Ka Four’, mentions, "I am sad to hear the news. He was a great guy to work with. Great energy on the set. If his family needs any help from me, I am always there for them."
 
Emotional Arbaaz Khan who had the privilege to act with him in ‘Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’ and ‘Auzaar’, stated, "It is sad that Nirmal passed away at such a young age. My condolences for him and his family. He was a terrific actor and it was great working with him.”
 
It is a great tragedy for the Indian screen to have lost such a well known talented actor Nirmal Pandey.
