Somebody out there toying with the idea of using flash cards with 3DS? Here comes the bad news for you. Nintendo is reportedly planning to curb such illegal activities on its much-valued 3DS gaming console. According to sources, the company may send to users’ system a firmware update that would even brick the system.

A source claims that Japanese retailer Enterking has announced that it would not buy 3DS device with the history of using any such illegal flash cards.

Though Nintendo has not officially announced about this, the warning from Enterking cannot be taken lightly. “In case if you use equipment which is illegal or unapproved by Nintendo or if you do customization which is unapproved by Nintendo, there is a possibility that Nintendo 3DS become non bootable by system update,” Enterking was quoted as saying.

The retailer further asks the customers to format the system before selling the device. All these warnings hint that Nintendo could have forceful plans to protect its 3DS consoles. Recently, there were reports of Apple blocking its iBook access for jailbroken devices. No wonder, even if Nintendo seriously takes up severe actions.
