Michael Jackson's two eldest children were given a standing ovation during a posthumous tribute to their father at Sunday night's (31Jan10) Grammys - following an unprecedented star-studded performance honouring the King of Pop.

A spectacular 3D performance featuring Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Usher was arranged to recognise the achievements of the Thriller great, who died last June (09).

The 3D clip was used as part of the Earth Song performance Jackson planned on showcasing during his doomed residency at London's O2 Arena. Singing to a previously recorded track by Jackson, the superstars brought the star-studded crowd to their feet on the music industry's biggest night.

Lionel Richie then stepped onstage to introduce Paris, 11, and Prince Michael, 12.

The siblings, wearing black suits with Jackson's trademark red arm band, graciously accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award for their late father.

In a touching speech, Prince told the crowd: "We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father, Michael Jackson. First of all we'd like to thank God for watching over us for the past seven months, and our grandma and grandpa for their love and support. We would also like to thank the fans. Our father loved you so much because you were always there for him.

"Our father was always concerned about the planet and humanity. Through his hard work and dedication he has helped many charities and donated to all of them. Through all of his song his message was simple: love. We will continue to spread his message and help the world. Thank you. We love you daddy."

His younger sister briefly took centre stage, adding: "Daddy was supposed to be here. Daddy was going to perform this year... Thank you, we love you daddy."

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards aired live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday - the same venue where Jackson's star-studded public memorial service took place last July (09).
