A rise of 43.76% in the mango exports in 2008-09 has been seen when compared to the year before.

"There was a drop in mango exports during 2007-08 due to quality deterioration on account of vagaries of weather, but in 2008-09 exports have picked up reflecting an increase of 43.76% in quantity terms," Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said.

He said the government was coordinating with export promotion agencies such as the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) by providing them necessary technical inputs and financial assistance to help the fruits industry.
