LG Optimus One
LG’s Optimus One, the Android-based smartphone, will now be available in India at Rs. 13,500. The Optimus One model, after seeing success in other markets is now entering India.
 
The phone has 8.1cm wide display screen, 3 mega pixels camera and 32 GB expandable memory. The Optimus One model is equipped with Android 2.2 ‘Froyo operating system and offers rich internet features. The phone has an exclusive interface designed by LG.
 
“The versatile, powerful LG Optimus One was designed to provide an easy transition into the world of smartphones and as these numbers demonstrate, there is obviously a strong demand for this type of device,” President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, Dr. Jong-Seok was quoted as saying.
 
Meanwhile, the company plans to build its own capacity in Pune.
 
“We are importing the smartphones from Korea. We will have to wait and see the sales before we take the decision of manufacturing smartphones here. We will invest about USD 4-5 million for the expansion,” he said.
 
LG Optimus One was the successful model ever manufactured by LG. The South Korean company saw one million units being sold in just 40 days.
