‘Khatta Meetha’ received a response similar to the title of the movie and speculations stated that the movie is not a fat money earner. But, the second week of the movie has proved that the audiences have welcomed the rib-tickling comedy and the profits have crossed the 23 crore benchmark.

Priyadarshan will now be able to breathe some air now as his low-budget; high profit strategy has finally worked for him. It is the most low-budget movie for Akshay Kumar till now, which is produced by him.

The light-hearted comic satire has not done extreme wonders or something, but certainly the magic has worked to some extent. The first week of the movie noticed occupancy of 70 % and in the second week, it crossed the benchmark of 23 crores. The movie’s turnover has once again added more strongly to the fact of making good story low-budget movies.

The best examples to prove it are ‘Kites’ and ‘Raavan’, which just fell flat on the ground and dwindled the expectations of thousands of viewers.

Sources reveal, “The film is doing extremely well in single screen theatres. It had a great opening weekend. Akshay Kumar works his charm again. A relatively low production cost helped the makers successfully distribute the film and thereby maximize the revenues.”

Taran Adarsh, trade specialist adds, “The strategy of making a film in a moderate budget and selling it for reasonable prices ensures safety for not just the producer but also the distributors.”

Well, the movie will face enough competition in its third week from the upcoming releases like ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’ and ‘Aisha’.
