HTC has presented its Desire Z smartphone to the public at an HTC event. So now the company may be planning to phase out the admired HTC Dream in due course.

The Desire Z sports a pull out QWERTY board and features a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive SLCD touchscreen. The other attributes incorporated with the set include 720p HD video recording, a 5MP camera with automatic flash, Dolby Mobile and SRS sound and Wi-Fi.

The Desire Z runs on Android 2.2 OS and has a powerful 800 MHz Qualcomm processor with a better graphics module and a lower clockspeed. The device carries 4GB internal storage that can be sufficient for storing data.

The set is slightly thicker at 14.2mm than the HTC Desire HD, which is 11.8mm. Again, the weight is also more than the HTC Desire.

According HTC, the Desire Z phone will be released by the end of this year. However, the company has not provided any more details.
