Google has unveiled a free navigation system, Satnav for mobile phones. This will help the users to buy the navigation equipment in lesser cost than the expensive devices from the firms like TomTom.

The Motorola Droid phones will use the Google Maps Navigation including many of the features of the traditional GPS devices like three-dimensional views and turn-by-turn voice guidance.

This internet connected Satnav will allow navigation service using voice search in English. It can help in providing accurate data like traffic details, street view and many more using the Google’s satellite imagery service.

This will pose a major challenge for Tom Tom, which has already released a similar satellite navigation device at a cost of £60 for the Apple iPhones.

The Google Satnav is the highlight of the new Android 2.0 OS released by Google on Tuesday.
