Reports say that old time glamorous Ford India is mulling on ceasing the production of Ikon car in India. Even their dealers have aren’t keeping stock of the Ikon models as the sales number is zero in many towns and cities across India.
 
If rumours are to be believed, the history of Ikon car has hit the bottom on this 12-year old model car.  Right now, car dealers across the nation are not giving out any new orders and are now selling their remaining stocks in store.
 
Ford sold just zero Ikon cars in Jan, showing that the company is really closing down with on its sales.
 
As far as history is concerned, Ford Ikon has been one of the cherished and sizzling cars in India when they were produced in the 2nd-half of 1999.  This Ikon car has been developed specially for India after taking into consideration the road condition and car usage of Indian people.  Ikon car was exported to lot many emerging markets from India; the Ikon became an instant hit because of its worth as well as its striking easy-to-drive factor.
 
At first, Ikon car was offered in 3 engine variants – two with petrol and one with diesel engine- and has been through constant updates to keep it going. However, in 2005, Ford ceased the production of its 1.7-litre diesel engine and 1.6-litre Rocam petrol model. They offered the 1.3-litre Rocam model in BS-III (Bharat Stage Three) cities.
 
However, Ford continued with the production of 1.3-litre push-rod petrol model in Bharat Stage II cities.
