Ford has upgraded its popular mid-sized SUV Edge from its 2010 model. The new release called the 2011 Ford Edge was showcased at the latest chapter of the Chicago Auto Show.

The SUV now comes in three engine variants as opposed to the single 3.5-litre that was available with the 2010 model. This time, the engine displacement values are 2.0-litre, 3.5-litre and 3.7-litre. The 2.0-litre variant has four cylinders and its engine, called EcoBoost, delivers best-in-class fuel economy. It is supposed to be 15-percent more fuel efficient than the current Edge. The other 3.5-litre variant delivers 285-hp of power and 253-lb/ft torque which is stronger than the 3.5-litre engine on the 2010 model.

Finally, the 3.7-litre variant is a V-6 engine that dishes out 305 horses and 280-lb/ft of torque. This engine is similar to the V-6 on the 2011 Mustang. As far as cosmetics go, the new Edge features slimmer headlights, a bolder front grille and new wheel designs. The back of the car sees smoked head and taillights.

Pricing information of the 2011 Ford Edge is still under wraps.
