Colin Farrell knew it was time to curb his wild ways when he started becoming ‘really bad news" on the set of movie flop ‘Miami Vice’.

The Irish actor checked into rehab for six weeks shortly after wrapping the Michael Mann film because he started to realise his addictions were becoming a big problem.

Now clean and sober, Farrell admits he has little memory of making Miami Vice with Jamie Foxx.

Colin Farrell quoted, "I was always very functional, but that was the first film where there were a couple of days I missed because I was f**ked.”

He added, "My kind of romantic fecklessness had turned into something more debilitating personally and creatively, because the word was spreading that I wasn't reliable."

The movie star admits his family was far from surprised when he checked into rehab many people close to Farrell thought he should have sought help for his issues years before.

The actor said, “I had issues way before I ever stepped into an acting class - my family were worried about me for years and years. The stuff I used to get up to, the way I used to drive and what I used to have in my system. I'm profoundly lucky that I got out unscathed and that I didn't kill anyone."
