Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap seems to be too upset with the organizers of the International Film Festival Of India as the on-going festival doesn’t represent the emerging voices of the Indian cinema and it is showing those films which are 3 or 4 years old.

Anurag says, “All the films they have shown are from the last five years. Nothing new is being shown. I have all the DVDs of these films at my home and can start a festival if I want.”

He continues, “A film like Vihirshould have been shown in the festival last year itself but the organizers woke up to the film only after it got international recognition”

Adding further, he says, “I feel that we don’t have a respect for our own cinema. They are showing Vihirnow, when it has won several awards internationally. Film Bazaar is showing Akin’s film Soul Kitchennow, but IFFI is unaware. He is such an amazing filmmaker but the officials are obviously not aware about him. It is really sad.”

He is also upset with the fact that his film ‘The Girl In Yellow Boots’ was shown in Venice and Toronto film festival, but nobody in India even approached him.
