After successfully launching its kids science education TV show in 2005, Zula USA has introduced a virtual world called ZulaWorld. Based on the themes of the TV show, ZulaWorld has already signed up about a thousand users. In the newly launched ZulaWorld, kid can create avatars and play in the world for free, create their own alien, buy a spaceship and chat with friends. According to the creator of the Zula Patrol, Deb Manchester, the kid can also play mini games in the virtual world that will teach them scientific principles.
The TV show, Zula Patrol has successfully run on channels like PBS, NBC and Telemundo. Zula Patrol deals with the aliens who travel from world to world and solve various problems using science. Both Zula Patrol and the recently launched virtual world are meant for kids above six years of age. The games can also be enjoyed by parents and teachers. ZulaWorld with all levels can be available by paying a subscription charge of $49.99 for one year.
The newly launched game world is expected to gain massive popularity because of the success of the TV show Zula Patrol. Computer technology giant, IBM is investing in the Zula project by offering in-kind services such as technical support and infrastructure design for the virtual world. IBM's research wing is also helping the development of the project. According to an IBM executive, at the initial period the company will provide help for free and may share in future revenues. The basic game world is available free of cost for visitors to the site while subscribing the game will unravel more interesting parts.
