Zubin Mehta, the world famous music composer of Indian origin performed at Warsaw, where he captivated the Poles with his music compositions. The magical musician was there to pay a musical tribute in the memory of million of Jews who were massacred by the Nazis during World War II. Zubin Mehta was asked to perform at Warsaw by the Polish government, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising.

Zubin, who is also the conductor of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, chose the fifth Symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven in honor of those who martyred their lives against the opposition of Adolf Hitler. The surviving Jews of Warsaw came out of their homes on April 15, 1943 to openly fight the armies of Nazis with the support of their Polish brethren.

The music composer, after the bewitching performance, remarked that it is always a pleasure to perform in Poland as the people here greatly appreciate and understand classical music. Talking about India, Zubin remarked that motherland always creates a sense of nostalgia in him. He expressed that he missed Mumbai where he grew up and took formative training in music. The Chief Guest of the evening was none other than the Israeli President Shimon Peres, who himself is a Polish born Jew.
