Congress leader and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be sworn-in as the CM of the state for the second consecutive term on Wednesday (May 20). His new cabinet will take oath on May 22. The swearing-in of ministers has been delayed because May 21 happens to the death anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. Reddy has already met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi.
It is expected that on Wednesday, Rajasekhara Reddy will meet governor N D Tiwari and submit the resolution of the cabinet. After accepting the recommendation from Reddy, the governor will ask him to stay till the next government takes over. After the meeting with governor, the Congress Legislature Party will formally elect Rajasekhara Reddy as its leader.
Besides the elected members, the Congress Legislature Party meeting on Wednesday will be attended by AICC in charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs, Veerappa Moily and PCC chief D Srinivas. The Congress has retained power in Andhra by winning 157 assembly seats. The party has also swept the Lok Sabha polls by bagging 33 out of 42 seats. During his meeting with Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, YSR Reddy discussed the modalities of inducting all sections of the society and the party in the state cabinet.
