Yash Raj Films of India has announced that it has entered into a multi-million dollar joint venture with the Dubai Infinity Holding (DIH) in order to set up an entertainment district in Dubai. The JV will be called Yash Raj Films Entertainment District and will comprise theme parks, movie palace, special hotels and other attractions all themed around the Yash Raj Films Banner.
The DIH chief executive Samira Abdulrazzak said, 'Bringing such a honoured name into the United Arab Emirates has been a strategic move as it attracts the core demographic of the country.' Hinting at the success this JV would see, Abdulrazzak said that Indian cinema is witnessing burgeoning fans in the region. This is evident from the fact that the Bollywood films gross higher than Western films here. The UAE is home to around 1.5 million expatriate Indians.
