Soon the advertising agencies can target the drivers at petrol stations as Yahoo!7, Seven Network and United Digital Media are collaborating to launch PumpTV to broadcast ads at the petrol pumps.

The new pump TV will be broadcast on 19-inch LCD screens across some selected stations in the first phase.

This scheme will rollout at around 400 petrol stations across 20 cities in Australia. Melbourne and Sydney are the prime target cities which will be added on a speedy trial basis. Then the other cities will be included later on.

"This initiative will provide advertisers with exposure to over 12 million highly engaged customers per month, whilst they fill their vehicles at the pump," the companies said in a joint statement.

Seven Network will provide a variety of news including sports, weather and lifestyle programs to screen in between the advertisements.

The companies aim to capture a major share in this untouched segment of ad space.
