The Xenitis Company, which is crucially into computer and bicycle manufacturing, has floated a new company named Xenitis Telecommunications to foray into mobile manufacturing. It has been claimed by Xenitis that by August this year, it will introduce the cheapest mobile handsets in the market priced at Rs 499. Mr Santanu Ghosh, the Chairman and Managing Director of Xenitis, informed that the company will be spending about Rs 430 Crore in the coming six months to expand its manufacturing unit at Hoogly near Kolkata.
He further informed that Xenitis has already got hold of 10 acres in order to expand its computer-making unit and is in the process of acquiring another 10 acres for setting up the cell phone manufacturing unit. Mr Ghosh said that Xenitis will spend Rs 200 on each of its projects. The Chairman and MD of Xenitis informed that the company will provide handsets to key mobile manufacturers and service providers in India. Xenitis has already got orders to make 1,60,000 handsets per month, out of which 50,000 will be sold to Dubai and West Asia.
