The ICC has ruled out the shifting of Pakistan’s share of world cup matches to a neutral venue. It has said that the 14 matches would be held in other three co-host nations; India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
ICC refused to give Pakistan its share of matches in a board meeting in London. It has also ruled out the idea of a neutral venue. The Central Organising Committee has been asked to meet soon and suggest venues for the 14 matches within the other three nations. David Morgan, ICC President, said that the neutral venue option was discussed at first but was ruled out eventually. He added that commercial board of ICC needs a recommendation from four nations, about the locations of those matches.
ICC commercial board (IDI) also confirmed that Lahore would not be the headquarters of World Cup Administration. The headquarters has been shifted to Mumbai. The PCB is at present, locked in a battle with the ICC and the governing body is striving to find a solution to it. PCB accepted ICC’s offer of assistance to ensure Pakistan’s cricket does not suffer because of certain unpleasant incidents. Pakistan has become a sort of a neglected nation as other cricketing nations are not willing to tour the country.
The assisting team will comprise Giles Clarke, ICC Director and David Richardson, ICC General Manager.
