P K Gopalakrishnan has decided to join MindTree Ltd by relinquishing his job of vice-president (govt & defence vertical) at Wipro. The information technology service company of India, Wipro has seen many top officials quitting their jobs in last few months. Before Gopalakrishnan, Sudip Nandy, Wipro's president for telecom, media and technology, left the organisation to join Aricent as chief executive officer in October. Sudip Banerjee who was heading the enterprise solutions division of Wipro Technologies has also left his job to join L&T Infotech.
P K Gopalakrishnan will hold the post of senior vice-president and head of the India operations of MindTree Ltd. Gopalakrishnan will be vested with the responsibility of managing Indian enterprises and the defence and government sectors in both IT Services and R&D Services businesses at MindTree. He will also help in building MindTree's System Integration (SI) capability.
Commenting on his new job under MindTree, Gopalakrishnan stated that the company has Indian customers like Hindustan Unilever, Titan, TVS Motors, ICICI Bank and a few state governments. He assured to work efficiently to expand the domain of the company in different verticals such as manufacturing, banking, financial services, insurance, and travel and transportation so as to provide innovative solutions to the clients.
