Robert Mondavi, the founder of the world famous Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley of California, passed away in his Yountville home at the age of 94. Robert Mondavi set up the Robert Mondavi Winery in 1966 and saw it grow into a $500 million-a-year business. He is credited for introducing the European technique of making wine in the United States like the usage of French oak aging barrels and stainless-steel fermentation tanks.
In his honor and remembrance, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of California has hailed him as a ‘true California legend’. Robert Mondavi happened to be the son of Italian immigrant parents and gradually went on to become among the most leading figures of the wine industry in the US.
