The third seeded Maria Sharapova was ousted from the ongoing Wimbledon championships after losing miserably to Russian Alla Kudryavtseva on Thursday, June 26. Thursday’s show marked her earliest exit from the grass-court Grand Slam, but Sharapova is resolute that her humiliation at being dumped out of Wimbledon has only resulted in fuelling her determination to win the tournament once again. It was an out and out lacklustre second round display that Maria Sharapova displayed against Kudryavtseva, who is ranked as the world number 154 on Court One.

Maria Sharapova’s recent failure follows her defeat to Dinara Safina in the fourth round of the French Open. This time around, Maria Sharapova suffered a 6-2, 6-4 defeat in a game that lasted an hour and 23 minutes. Maria Sharapova being ousted from Wimbledon at so early a stage has come has a shock to all and continued worrying decline for Sharapova just six months after winning the Australian Open. Despite defeat, the spirit of Sharapova has not dampened. The lady who won the 2004 Wimbledon championships, said that she is determined to be the women's champion at the All England Club again.
