The authorities of a school funded by noted rapper and Hollywood star Will Smith has denied that students will be given lessons in Scientology. Will, who founded the New Village Academy in Los Angeles along with wife Jada Pinkett, was rumored to have instructed teachers at the new school to preach the controversial faith to pupils.
The actor is a close friend of noted follower of the Scientologist faith, Tom Cruise. Smith was also recently forced to deny rumors that he too has enrolled in the Church of Scientology. The director of New Village Academy, Jacqueline Olivier has denied the allegations stating that the school will not focus on any religion in particular. The director remarked that they are a secular school and just like all non-religious independent schools, faculty and staff do not promote their own religions at school or pass on the beliefs of their particular faith to children. The school is due to open in September.
