Multi-talented Academy Award winning American actress and comedian, Whoopi Goldberg has been roped in to host Broadway's 62nd annual Tony Awards to be held on 15 June this year. For the past two years, the prestigious Tony Awards had been going without any master of ceremonies. The Tony Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS from Radio City Music Hall in New York.
The formal name of the Tony Award is the Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre. For Whoopi Goldberg, who has hosted the Oscars single-handedly four times, this will be the first instance as emcee of American theater's highest honors. The actress, who is 52 years old, remarked that she is very excited and looking forward to hosting the event.
