The head of vaccine research at the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Monday that a dose of H1N1 vaccine is enough for protection against the pandemic flu strain.

WHO official, Marie-Paule Kieny, said, “All the data that we have seen show that one dose is sufficient.”

The official said that larger volumes of vaccines are being yielded than first expected. "Availability of vaccine will be higher than what was feared at one time," she added.

Kieny also announced that WHO will provide donated vaccines to about 100 low-income and middle-income countries to immunize their health workers from the spreading virus.
