According to the researchers from Boston University School of Public Health and the Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife, those women who practise the obsession of wearing high heels can suffer cringing later in their life. However, men don’t experience the same pain as they have completely different style of wearing shoes.
"Young women should make careful choices regarding their shoe type to avoid hindfoot pain later in life, or perform stretching exercises to alleviate the effect of high heels on foot pain," recommended the study authors.
The study was conducted on 3,372 participants and 25% of the participants suffered the generalised foot pain on most days. Among them, 19 percent of men and 29 percent of women reported the abnormality.
According to the National data, the foot and toe symptoms are very common in the patients aged between 65 to 74 years.
Previously, specific studies have shown that, there is a correlation between improper footwear and pain.
"In women, we found an increased risk between hindfoot pain and shoewear," said the study authors. But for the men, it’s not common as very few people wear wrong shoes.
The above findings will be published in the recent journal of American College of Rheumatology.
