Talking on the sidelines on the occasion of gifting a Volvo car to Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra Volvo Car India (VCI) MD Paul de Voijs has said that it will launch new models in India soon. Also, VCI will strengthen its dealer network so that it can sell 400-500 cars in the country by the end of this fiscal. The company aims to launch 2-3 new models in coming times.
Currently, Volvo portfolio has 10 cars and till date it has sold just 100 cars in one year of its launch in India. However, the company is looking into future, and will launch its new models in future after testing and seeing the market response. VCI, a division of Ford Motor earlier launched two of its flagship models, Volvo S80, and Volvo XC90, in September 2007.
Paul de Voijs commenting further on dealership development said that in addition to dealers in Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh, the company soon will have its dealers in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Cochin and Pune. Accordingly, he said that the company targets to sell 400-500 cars by the end of this fiscal. Currently, Volvo is available in models of sedans, 1 station wagon, two convertibles and three cross-over model range.
