Mobile Service Provider, Vodafone said on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, that it has signed a deal with Apple to sell Apple iphone in India. According to a statement by Vodafone, its customers in nine countries namely Australia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, India, Italy, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey will also be able to use i-phone later this year.

However, the UK telecom giant didn't reveal any further details of the deal with Apple. Earlier Vodafone had lost many contracts to sell iphone in other European countries. Dr Windsor Holden, from Juniper Research said that although Vodafone will be pleased with this contract but in countries like India the number of higher mobile users is limited.

The i-phone allows you to make any call just by touching name or the number of the user in the address book. One can also listen to voice mail messages in the desired order. However it has also been criticized for its high price and dependence on EDGE technology. Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs had said earlier that the firm wants to sell 10 million i-phones by the end of 2008. A latest release has shown that Apple is well on  track to achieve its goal.
