The ultra low-end mobile phones segment is buzz with a new revelation as Vodafone is planning to launch world’s cheapest mobile, the Vodafone 150 in India.

Earlier, Vodafone had showcased its low-end phones, the Vodafone 150 and the Vodafone 250 in the Mobile World Congress 2010. And now, the company is storming to this segment with the handsets that are priced below Rs. 1,000 mark.

According to reports, the company is going to sell the handset at a low price of Rs. 700. This is considered to be a big achievement in low-cost mobile segment by a multinational company as there are a number of low-end phones in India.

However, the phone won’t leave out essential features due to its low-cost. The Vodafone 150 will surprise you with its features like mobile payment services, a miniUSB connector, alarm clock, a torch, calculator a currency converter, two embedded games, memory for up to100 entries in phonebook and SMS storage.

The 150 handset is powered by a 500mAh battery. It offers talk time up to 5hrs and standby time up to 400hrs.

Vodafone has also targeted the rural mass for its low-cost handset and it is developing  logistics infrastructure across countries to reach rural populations. It has also aimed at reaching 60%of the population in India.

Marten Pieters, MD and CEO, Vodafone Essar, said, "The average user in rural India does not spend as much as mobile consumers in Delhi or in Mumbai. Though the majority still make a revenue stream for mobile operators, the idea is to make mobile phones affordable and achievable for everyone."

This low-end handset will reach to every rural customer very soon, he added.
