Mobile service provider Virgin Mobile has struck a deal with MySpace for providing social networking services. According to a press release, MySpace will offer its social networking services on Virgin Mobile's WAP-enabled phones. The new deal with MySpace will enable the young customers to have instant access to world's largest social networking site at no extra-cost on handsets starting at Rs 2,999.
 
A unit of Fox Interactive Media, MySpace is a leading lifestyle portal connecting global community by integrating web profiles, instant messaging, blogs etc. With the help of social networking services, the Virgin Mobile users can reach to the online community and actively meet or add their friends. The users can share photos, journals and interests with their growing network of mutual friends.
 
Virgin Mobile launched its mobile services in India through a franchise arrangement with Tata Teleservices on March, 2008. This was Virgin’s seventh launch globally and its largest investment to date in India. Apart from India, Virgin Mobile offers its services in Australia, Canada, South Africa, the United States and France.
 

The new move by the mobile service provider is expected to enhance its portfolio and popularity. The launch of social networking service in mobile phone aims to attract the Indian youth and only time will tell how far it has succeed in its plan.
