73 year old Violin maestro Kunnakudi R Vaidyanathan died in a hospital after a prolonged illness. He is survived by wife and two daughters. He was known for his innovative violin concerts, and his performances all across the globe received accolades for him. His performances with Thavil, a traditional south Indian drum instrument has been quite popular in India.
 
Born in the year 1935 at Kunnakudi, K Vaidyanathan's father was an erudite scholar of Sanskrit, Tamil and Carnatic Music. He learned the art of composing from his father who was a great composer and exponent of Carnatic Music and Kathakalaksheparn. In his lifetime, K Vaidyanathan did musical composition for several films too.  
 
K Vaidyanathan believed that the music has therapeutical merits and it should be used in that perspective. He had versatility in his music artistry and for that matter he joined the film orchestra with modern Theatres, Salem. Later in the year 1963, he joined HMV as a freelance music director. He produced diverse religious songs along with Tamil Musical films.
